A detailed Suzaku study of an evolved SNR, the Cygnus Loop
Abstract
The Cygnus Loop is one of the largest and the brightest SNRs in the X-ray sky. So far, our successive observations have revealed a panoramic view of the ejecta structure which can be a key to understanding the supernova explosion mechanism. Several heavy elements are centrally concentrated while the lighter elements distribute more uniformly, which evidently reflects an onion-like metallicity structure. Furthermore, we found an unexpectedly-strong Si-Ka line in an anomalous southernmost region, namely "blowout". The measured Si abundance inside there is ~10 times higher than that in the northernmost region, which suggests that the Si distributes asymmetry and is filled inside the blowout. We also found a similar faint blowout in the west of this remnant.
